Abstract: Objective To investigate the changes in serum C-reactive protein(CRP) in neonates with infectious jaundice and their clinical significance. Methods Total bilirubin(TBIL),indirect bilirubin(IBIL),white blood cell count(WBC) and CRP were determinated in 28 neonates with infectious jaundice(observation group) and 50 neonates with physiological jaundice(control group) before and after treatment. Results were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment, the levels of TBIL,IBIL,WBC and CRP in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01).There were statistically significant differences in these indexes before and after treatment(P<0.01);Serum CRP was positively correlated with WBC by excluding the effects of bilirubin(partial correlation coefficient=0.820 7,P<0.01).Conclusion The CRP can be used as an indicator of infectious jaundice in neonates, and dynamic observation of CRP levels will help determine the disease evolution and therapeutic efficacy.
