Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinicopathological differences of primary IgA nephropathy(IgAN) in adult patients of different gender. Methods Clinical and pathological data of 374 IgAN patients diagnosed by renal biopsy from May 2008 to December 2011 were retrospectively analyzed to investigate the differences in clinical manifestations and pathological features between male patients and female patients. Results There were no remarkable differences in onset age,24 h urinary protein excretion, levels of blood cholesterol,albumin,IgA,C3 and glucose, and glomerular, tubular and renal arteriole scores between male patients and female patients(P>0.05).Compared with female patients, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, levels of serum creatinine, blood uric acid and triacylglycerol, renal interstitial scores, and total scores significantly increased, but the estimated glomerular filtration rate obviously decreased in female patients(P<0.05).Conclusion There are certain differences in clinicopathological features between IgAN patients of different gender. The gender is one of the reasons for clinicopathological diversity of IgAN.
