Abstract:Objective To evaluate the curative effect of inferior turbinate rhinoplasty combined with fractured bone removal in patients with chronic hypertrophic rhinitis. Methods A total of 115 patients with inferior turbinate hypertrophy due to chronic hypertrophic rhinitis were treated by inferior turbinate rhinoplasty combined with fractured bone removal. Results Among the 115 patients, the treatment was significant effective in 97(84.4%),effective in 16(13.9%) and ineffective in 2(1.7%).The total effective rate was 98.3%.After a mean follow-up of 1.6 years(range 1 to 3 years),the recurrence was found in 2 patients. Conclusion Inferior turbinate rhinoplasty combined with fractured bone removal is an effective operation for chronic hypertrophic rhinitis, and accords with nasal physiological characteristics and results in fewer complications in treating chronic hypertrophic rhinitis. Therefore, the combined method is worthy of clinical generalization.
