Abstract:Objective To explore the validity, reliability and sensitivity of PRO-KIN balance instrument in predicting falls in old people, and to provide an objective basis for its clinical application. Methods Sixty subjects matching admitting conditions were equally divided into research group(the elderly with falling history) and control group(the elderly without falling history). All subjects received PRO-KIN balance instrument test and Berg Balance Scale test twice per week, and the results were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis rank correlation coefficient(intraclass correlation coefficient,ICC) to test the validity and reliability of PRO-KIN balance instrument, respectively.Independent samples t-test was used to test the sensitivity of PRO-KIN balance instrument. Results Indicators of PRO-KIN balance instrument showed a moderate negative correlation with those of Berg Balance Scale(r=-0.512—0.677,P<0.01).The ICC of PRO-KIN balance equipment was 0.89-0.98 and 95% credibility intervals were centered. There were significant differences in PRO-KIN balance test results between the two groups(P<0.01).Conclusion PRO-KIN balance instrument shows high validity, reliability and sensitivity for the prediction of falls in old people.
