Abstract:Objective To explore the expression and significance of CK5/6,CK14,SMA,P53,Ki67 and ER in intraductal proliferative lesions(IDPL)of the breast. Methods A total of 146 breast IDPL specimens collected from the Department of Pathology of the Sixth People’s Hospital of Shanghai between 2006 and 2011 were tested, including lesions next to the terminal duct lobular units(TDLU)in 35 cases, common type of ductal hyperplasia(UDH)in 32(2cases with apocrine metaplasia),atypical ductal hyperplasia(ADH)in 86(ADH Ⅰin 55and ADH II in 31,5cases with apocrine metaplasia),and ductal carcinoma in situ(DCIS)in 28(low-grade DCIS in 20,middle-grade DCIS in 3 and high-grade DCIS in 5).The expression of CK5/6,CK14,SMA,P53,Ki67 and ER was detected by immunohistochemical Envision method. Results The positive expression of CK5/6 and CK14in ADH group and DCIS group was significantly lower than that in TDLU group and UDH group(P<0.05 or P<0.01),but the differences were not significant between TDLU group and UDH group(P>0.05).The positive expression of SMA in TDLU group was not significantly different from that in UDH group,ADH group and DCIS group(P> 0.05).The positive expression of P53 in ADH group was significantly higher than that in TDLU group and UDH group(P<0.01).The positive expression P53 in DCIS group was significantly higher than that in TDLU group,UDH group and ADH group(all P<0.01).The positive expression of Ki67 and ER in TDLU group was significantly lower than that in UDH group,ADH group and DCIS group(all P<0.01).Conclusion There were significant differences in the expression of CK5/6,CK14,SMA,P53,Ki67 and ER among TDLU,UDH,ADH and DCIS.The detection of the expression is helpful to the differential diagnosis of TDLU,UDH,ADH and DCIS.
