Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of Netrin-1 for the early detection of acute kidney injury(AKI).Methods The AKI was induced in 40 SD rats by ischemia-reperfusion(ischemia-reperfusion group,n=10),folic acid(folic acid,n=10),lipopolysaccharide(LPS group,n=10) and cisplatin(cisplatin group,n=10),respectively.The levels of urine Netrin-1 and serum creatinine were measured 1,3,6,24,48 and 72 hours after treatment. Results The levels of urine Netrin-1 significantly increased 20-fold 3 hours after renal ischemia-reperfusion relative to baseline(P<0.01),reached the peak after 6 hours, and then slowly decreased to normal levels after 48 hours. However, serum creatinine concentrations significantly increased up to peak 24 hours after reperfusion. In rats treated with cisplatin, folic acid or LPS,urine Netrin-1 levels increased 1 hour after induction, peaked 6,3,6 hours after injury. But,serum creatinine concentrations significantly increased after 24,6,6 hours(all P<0.01).Conclusion Urinary Netrin-1 is a promising biomarker for early detection of renal injury.
