Abstract:Objective To investigate the inhibitive effect of recombinant human endostatin(rHES) on corneal neovascularization(CNV) induced by suture. Methods Corneal neovascularization was induced by stitching cornea in 24 New Zealand white rabbits. These rabbits were randomly divided into three groups, with 8 rabbits in each group.Rabbits in group A,B and C were sub-conjunctivally injected with 0.1 mL normal saline,0.1 mL rHES and 0.1 mL dexamethasone(0.5 mg) every other day, respectively. The area of neovascularization was calculated by measuring vessel length of corneal neovascularization under slit-lamp illumination. The study lasted 3 weeks. Results Compared with group A,the vessel length and area of corneal neovascularization significantly decreased in group B and group C at each time point(P<0.001).Compared with group B,the vessel length and area of corneal neovascularization obviously increased in group C on the thirteenth and eighteenth day(P<0.05).Conclusion The rHES can effectively inhibit corneal neovascularization.
