Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of bladder irrigation with nitrofurazone on the urination after the removal of indwelling urinary catheters. Methods A total of 120 patients in operations treated of managed with preoperative indwelling urinary catheters were randomly divided into two groups, with 60 patients in each group. The control group postoperative was extubated after bladder emptying with indwelling catheters. The experiment group postoperative was extubated after bladder instillation with 0.02% nitrofurazone solution(200-300 mL) at fluid height of 60 cm above the edge of the bed.The urination efficacy observed after the removal of indwelling urinary catheters in both groups. Results The total effective rate in experiment group was significantly higher than that in control group(100.0% vs 85.0%,P<0.05).Conclusion Bladder irrigation with nitrofurazone can lead to smooth voiding and effective prevention of urinary retention after the removal of indwelling urinary catheters.
