Abstract: Objective To study the effect of pelvic floor reconstruction with prolift system on severe pelvic organ prolapse. Methods Nineteen patients with pelvic organ prolapse at stage of Ⅲ-Ⅳ classified by the pelvic organ prolapse quantitative examination(POP-Q) underwent prolift total pelvic floor reconstruction.Operative time, blood loss, length of hospital stay and operative complications were recorded.Regular follow-up was performed 1,6 and 12 months after operation. Results The operation time, blood loss, length of postoperative indwelling urinary catheters and length of hospital stay were(82.4±5.3) minutes,(128.2±53.3)mL,(3.28±0.74)days and(3.8±2.2) days, respectively. The anatomical success rate of the surgery was 100% and there was a significant difference between preoperative POP-Q measurements and postoperative POP-Q measurements(P<0.01).No patients had impairment of bladder, rectum, great vessels and nerves, mesh erosion, and postoperative infection. Conclusion Total pelvic floor resconstrution with prolift system is an effective and safe treatment for severe pelvic organ prolapse, but the long-term effects needs further study.
