Abstract:Objective To develop quantitative indicators for evaluating the effects of volatilization time of three dentin adhesive systems before light curing on microtensile bond strengths, and to provide a reference for clinical treatment. Methods The microtensile bond strengths of three different dentine adhesives(Gluma One-Bond,Single Bond and Clearfil SE Bond) were determined by microtensile bond test at 10,20,30,40 and 50 seconds after the application of adhesive coating. The interface of fractured bond was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Results Microtensile bond strength at 10 seconds after adhesive coating was significantly lower than that at 20,30,40 and 50 seconds after adhesive coating for all three adhesives. The peak values of microtensile bond strength were obtained after 20 seconds and differences were not significant among values after 20,30,40 and 50 seconds.SEM showed that occluding situations of dentinal tubules at 20,30,40 and 50 seconds after adhesive coating were better than those at 10 seconds after adhesive coating and Clearfil SE Bond specimens had better occluding situations than Gluma One-Bond and Single Bond specimens. Conclusions The desired dentin bond strength can be achieved by volatilization time of at least 20 seconds.
