Abstract: Objective To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of adult female urinary incontinence(UI) in Donghu district of Nanchang city.Methods A total of 3 125 women aged 20 years or older from three streets in Donghu district of Nanchang city were investigated between March 2010 and March 2011 by using stratified random sampling.Results A total of 2 986 women aged(45.5±15.6) years(range 20 to 90 years) finished the interview.The overall prevalence of UI was 27.7%(827/2 986).Among the 2986 women,19.1% had stress UI,2.6% had urge UI,5.6% had mixed UI,and 0.4% had other UI.The risk factors for adult female UI included the age,delivery mode,body mass index,smoking,constipation,delivery times and education degree. Conclusion The prevalence of adult female UI in Donghu district of Nanchang city was lower than that in other areas of China.The stress UI is the major type of UI,and the age,delivery mode,body mass index,smoking,constipation,delivery times and education degree are the potential risk factors for adult female UI in Donghu district of Nanchang city.
