Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of intestinal stem cells on tissue repair in ovalbumin(OVA)-sensitized BN rats. Methods Intestinal stem cells were localized by leucine-rich repeatcontaining G protein-coupled receptor 5(Lgr5) immunohistochemistry and cell proliferation was evaluated by proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) immunohistochemistry. The expression of Lgr5 was detected by real-time PCR.Results After sensitization with OVA,intestinal epithelium showed congestion, edema and increased eosinophils.Lgr5 was mainly located in crypt base cells.Compared with controls, the expression of PCNA and Lgr5 was significantly increased by sensitization with OVA.Conclusion The increase in PCNA and Lgr5 expression in small intestinal mucosa cells may be involved in intestinal epithelial repair in OVA-sensitized BN rats.
