Abstract: Early modern England was a patriarchal and hierarchical society.As a subsidiary group,women enjoyed a relatively low social status,subjected to stringent control of male authority,even under the oppression.However,women were not absolutely vulnerable and helpless.At that time,women established close ties and supported mutually with female friends and neighbors in the everyday social interaction and formed a sharing and mutual support network.When necessary,they would took collective action to defend their own interest.Mutual help among women with the joint led to form a powerful collective force and provided some support and shelter for disadvantaged women.
