A Study of the Relationship between the Underdevelopment of Vocational Education and Traditional Value Orientation in China——Application of Sociological and Methodological Tools
Abstract: Existing studies on the relationship between the underdevelopment of vocational education and related traditional value orientation in China seem to be inadequate and superficial.They have simply formulated that the tradition of stubborn prejudices against vocational education is the main cause of the underdevelopment of vocational education in China.However,from the vision of sociological and methodological analyses,and with the help of the tools of system concept and path analysis,they have found that:(1) Government policies,not traditional biased value orientation,are closely related to the development of vocational education in China,measured in terms of "yearly student recruitment";and(2) the so-called traditional biased value orientation against vocational education just reflects the pros and cons of daily experiences,and it can easily be suppressed or altered as we experience phenomenon in our daily lives.
