Abstract：Objective To investigate the epidemiologic features of influenza A virus and influenza B virus among children with respiratory infection in Nanchang during winter and spring.Methods Serum samples were obtained from 6 130 children diagnosed with respiratory infection in maternal and child health hospital of Jiangxi province between October 2010 to March 2011,and IgM antibodies to influenza virus were detected by indirect immunofluorescence.Results The detection rate of influenza A virus was significantly lower than the detection rate of influenza B virus(0.75% vs 10.39%,P<0.01).In addition,influenza B virus outbreak occurred in January 2011 and the detection rate of influenza B virus infection was 5 times higher than that during October-December 2010.Conclusion Influenza B virus was main the influenza virus among children with respiratory infection in Nanchang during 2010-2011 winter and spring,and influenza B virus infection outbreak occurred in January 2011.
