Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of noise on cardiovascular system and hearing in workers exposed to occupational noise. Methods Blood pressure determination, electrocardiogram monitoring and pure tone air conduction threshold audiometry were performed in 233 noise exposed workers(noise group) and 233 non-noise exposed workers(control group). Results The detection rates of high blood pressure, electrocardiographic abnormality and hearing loss were 9.4%,15.9% and 31.3% in noise group, respectively. There were significant differences in the detection rates between noise group and control group(P<0.01).Moreover,the detection rates were elevated by the increase in cumulative noise exposure. Conclusion Long-term exposure to occupational noise can result in cardiovascular impairment and hearing loss in workers.
