Abstract:Di-tert-butyl peroxide was used to simulate the di-alkyl peroxide, produced from the oxidation of leather fat-liquor or grease. At 105 ℃,di-tert-butyl peroxide reacted with solutions of CrCl3,CrCl3-antioxidant1010,respectively.The amount of Cr(Ⅵ) in each solution was measured at different time intervals. The effect of di-alkyl peroxide and free radicals scavenger(antioxidant1010) on Cr(Ⅵ) formation in leather was also explored. The results showed that di-tert-butyl peroxide could oxidize Cr(Ⅲ) to Cr(Ⅵ).antioxidant1010 and inhibit the production of Cr(Ⅵ).When the amount of antioxidant1010 was 10% of the chrome mass and the reaction lasted 5h,the contents of Cr(Ⅵ) in the system of chrome trichloride decreased by 98.4%.
